Compare discounts
See both the saving and final price. On an original amount of 1,000, a 10% discount saves 100 and leaves 900. A 20% discount saves 200 and leaves 800.
One amount. Different rates. See what changes.
| Rate | Saving | Final amount |
|---|---|---|
| 10% | 100 | 900 |
| 15% | 150 | 850 |
| 20% | 200 | 800 |
Bar lengths use unrounded values and start at zero.
For each rate: final amount = 1,000 − (1,000 × rate ÷ 100).
Decimals controls displayed results and exports. A ≈ symbol marks rounded values. Small non-zero values can round to zero. Comparisons use unrounded values and ordinary browser arithmetic.
Compare before you choose
This percentage comparison calculator shows how different rates affect one original amount. Compare discounts, percentage increases or percentage amounts for up to 12 rates. Each row starts from the same original value, making the alternatives easier to check.
See both the saving and final price. On an original amount of 1,000, a 10% discount saves 100 and leaves 900. A 20% discount saves 200 and leaves 800.
See the amount added and the new total. Increasing 1,000 by 10%, 15% or 20% produces 1,100, 1,150 or 1,200 respectively.
Find 10%, 15% and 20% of the same amount without adding or subtracting them. For 1,000, the results are 100, 150 and 200.
| Mode | Formula | 1,000 at 15% |
|---|---|---|
| Discount | Original − original × rate ÷ 100 | 850 final; 150 saved |
| Increase | Original + original × rate ÷ 100 | 1,150 final; 150 added |
| Percentage amount | Original × rate ÷ 100 | 150 |
Comparing a 10% discount with a 20% discount means comparing 900 with 800 when both start at 1,000. Applying a 10% discount and then a further 20% discount instead gives 720: 1,000 × 0.9 × 0.8. This comparison tool calculates independent alternatives, not a sequence of changes.
If you have many original amounts and one percentage, use the bulk percentage calculator. If you have an old and new amount and need to find the rate, use the percentage change calculator. For everyday percentage questions, use our percentage calculator.
Separate the rates with commas, semicolons or line breaks. For example, enter 10, 12.5, 20. A trailing % sign is optional. Use a full stop for decimal rates and do not put grouping commas inside a rate. You can compare up to 12 distinct rates.
For the same positive original price, the largest percentage discount gives the lowest final price. Check the saving and final amount together. The calculator does not account for delivery charges, price changes, eligibility conditions or other terms of an offer.
Discounts are limited to 0–100% so the final amount cannot be negative. For increases and percentage amounts, rates from 0% to 1,000,000% are accepted. The original amount must be between 0 and 1 trillion; calculations that exceed the supported numeric range are rejected.
No. This tool applies several known rates to one amount. To compare two existing values using their average, use our percentage difference calculator. A difference between rates such as 10% and 20% is 10 percentage points.
Close results may appear equal after rounding or when drawn at a small scale. Increase the decimal setting and inspect the table. The chart uses the unrounded results; it is a visual aid rather than a precise measurement.
Calculations run in your browser and no history is saved. Copy table uses the clipboard only when selected; downloading a CSV creates a file on your device. Share calculation includes your amount, rates and settings in a link that anyone with it can view. Editing an input clears the previous results until you compare again.
